William "Bill" Shirkey, 84, of Charleston, passed away September 12, 2009. He was a WW II Navy Veteran. Bill was preceded in death by son, Daniel Edward Shirkey. Surviving are; his wife of 64 years, Virginia Shirkey of Charleston; children, Blanch Mont Gabriel of Texas, William David Shirkey of Charleston, Reta Jo Tinsley of Scott Depot; brothers, Donald Ray Shirkey of Charleston, Pete Shirkey of Tyler Mountain, Richard Shirkey of Jamestown, New York; sisters, Wanda Wilson of Sissonville, Mary Kauffman of Detroit, Michigan, Carolyn Sue Williams, Michie, Mississippi; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, Charleston, with the Rev. Randy Campbell, and the Rev. Walter Means officiating. Burial will be in Floral Hills Garden of Memories with military graveside rites by American Legion Post No. 61, Clendenin. Friends may call one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
