William H. "Bill" Shaffer 80 of Cicerone Rd. Sissonville went home to be with the Lord on July 10, 2014. Bill was born October 5, 1933 to the late John A. and Gracie Gay Shafer of Sissonville. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Rev. Kenneth Shafer and sister, Dorthalee S. Crockett. Survivors include his loving wife, Lillian Clay; sons, Billy Allen and wife Debbie and Brian; daughter, Shonna; step-daughter, Kylene Adkins and husband Doug; brother, Albert "Tack" Shafer; sisters, Berthel Turns and Juanita Fisher and husband Ronald. He was blessed with many grandchildren. Bill was a U.S. Marine that served in the Korean War who retired from Amhurst-Arch Coal Co. as a dozer operator. He was a member of Sunlight Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Sunday July 13, 2014 at Sunlight Baptist Church, Island Branch Road, Cicerone with the Rev. Gary Blackwell officiating. Burial with Military Graveside Rites provided by American Legion Post 61, Clendenin will follow in Jones Cemetery, Cicerone. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to services on Sunday at the church.
