William H. "Bill" Reed, 83, of Charleston, went home to Christ on February 13, 2015. Mr. Reed was a veteran of both the US Marine Corps and US Navy, serving during the Korean War. He also retired from Mountaineer Gas Company after 46 years of service. Bill was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He was a Lay Minister and taught Sunday school for over 30 years. He was a Deacon, Parliamentarian and sang in the church choir. Bill was also honored by the church as Father of the Year in 1992. He was preceded in death by his parents, Shelby Clyde and Minnie Ruth Jones Reed. Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Dolores Reed of Charleston; daughters, Pamela D. Hopkins and husband, James of Oceana, WV, and Kathryn Kay and husband, David Arthur of Charleston; son, William H. "Bill" Reed, Jr. and wife, Teresa of Charleston; sister, Linda K. Reed of New Orleans, LA; brother, Doyle Wolfe and wife, Dorothy of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Miriah, Nicholas, Aja, Matthew, Justin, Hawk, Joe and Tonia; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Charleston, with Rev. Ronald Stoner officiating. Burial with military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 61, Clendenin will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 PM Tuesday and one hour prior to service time also at the church.
