Wanda June (Skiles) Young went to Glory on July 2, 2025 which was twelve days after her 90th birthday.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence "Larry" Young, her father and mother, James and Julia Skiles. Also two brothers, James E(Mary Margaret) Skiles and Curtis R. (Judy) Skiles and a niece, Carolyn Skiles.

Wanda is survived by her step children, Buddy Young and Melinda Young, her nieces, Diana Brown and Kimberly (Timothy) Buckner and nephew, James K. Skiles (Tracy), as well as many great nieces and great nephews.

Wanda was a member of Spradling Gospel Tabernacle where she played the piano and led the choir for many of her years.

She retired from McJunkin Corp. at which time she and her husband organized the gospel group, The Ambassadors for Christ, and spread the gospel through song throughout the state.

Wanda had no children of her own but was a second mother to her nieces and nephew. She gave piano lessons to many and was always a joy to be around. Even in her last days she never lost her sense of humor.

Services will be held on Wednesday July 9, 2025 at Cunningham Parker Johnson Funeral Home officiated by Steve Samples at 12:00pm with a visitation beginning at 11:00am. Her final resting place is Grandview Memorial Park in Dunbar.

A special thank you is given to Diana Brown and Margie Dolin for their exceptional care of Wanda. Great appreciation is in our hearts for the Hospice folks who, with much sympathy and consideration for Wanda and her caregivers, provided phenomenal care in her last weeks.
