Vivian M. Blessing Vivian M. Blessing, 87, of Charleston passed away Friday, June 18, 2010, at Oakridge Center, after a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred L. Blessing; parents, George and Garnet Scherer; brother, George Scherer; sisters, Macel Tredy, Lucille Norton and Fawn Scherer. Vivian was born November 12, 1922, in Eskdale, Kanawha County. She was a homemaker and also worked many years at State Farm Insurance as an office assistant. She was a warm compassionate and fun loving woman, who gave generously of herself to others. She loved her family, the ocean, traveling, laughing and anything chocolate or sweet. Surviving are; sons, John Blessing and wife, Carol of St. Albans, and Ron Blessing and wife, Toni of Charleston; sister-in-law, Ellen Mullins and husband Archie of Charleston; grandchildren, Andrew Blessing and wife Olivia of Charleston, Sarah Solove and husband, David of Orlando, Florida, Stephen Blessing and wife Kristina of Savannah, Georgia, and Chris Blessing and fiancée Kathy Shealy of Savannah, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Davey and Emily Blessing of Charleston, and Ellie Blessing of Savannah, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 21, 2010 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, Charleston, with the Rev. Ronald L. Stoner officiating. Burial will be in Marmet Cemetery, Marmet. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Vivian's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staffs of Oakridge Center and Hospice Care for their assistance and care during this difficult time.
