Obituary

Vernon D. Turley, 87, of Charleston passed away October 27, 2011. He was a member of the Charleston Mountain Mission. Vernon was born May 15, 1924 to Jack and Reba Turley. He retired from FMC Corporation 20 years ago, and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII having served aboard the USS Rainier. He was preceded in death by his sweetheart, best friend, and wife Nancy Turley. He found life very difficult without her. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Reba Turley, and older brother, Wilfred. Surviving Vernon are his daughters, Bernadine Wright and her husband Charlie; Doylene Morrison; and grandsons Bob, Scott and Kevin; two great grandchildren; brother, Herman and his wife Rita; and several nieces and nephews are left to mourn his passing. Funeral Services will be held at Charleston Mountain Mission on Wednesday November 2, 2011 at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Fairley McCormick officiating. Visitation with the family will be at the church one hour prior to services also on Wednesday. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. The family would like to give Special Thanks to the Staff and Caregivers at Quarry Manor. In Lieu of flowers the family suggests Memorial donations be made to Hospice of Charleston, 1606 Kanawha Blvd. W. Charleston, or the Charleston Mountain Mission Church, 1620 Seventh Avenue, Charleston, WV 25312.
