Velma Lee Walker 88, of Charleston passed away at home Tuesday December 9, 2014 following an extended illness. Velma was born January 23, 1926 to the late A.R. "Russ" and Elizabeth "Betty" Oxley Eary. Velma was a 1944 graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School and was a partner in the former family business of Elmer Walker Construction Company. She was a devoted "caregiver" for her late parents and granddaughter as well as the many "Furry" family pets. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Elmer Walker, grandchildren Elizabeth, Erin, Eric and Emily Walker, brother's Arthur, Chester and James Eary, sisters Mildred Vermillion, Arminta Tackett and Marguerite Walker. She is survived by daughter Nancy Walker Gibson, son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Norma Walker and granddaughter Natalie Walker. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday December 13 at Floral Hills Garden of Memories Mausoleum Chapel, Sissonville with Pastor David Taylor officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to services.
