Tony R. Skeens, 53, of Charleston, passed away suddenly December 11, 2009 as the result of a traffic accident. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Donald Smith; and paternal grandparents, Herbert Skeens and Stella Holmes. Surviving him are his children, Nathan (Jessica) Davis of St. Albans, Anthony Skeens of Myrtle Beach, SC, formerly of Sissonville, and Andrea Skeens of Charleston; parents, Robert L. and Marlene (Smith) Skeens of Charleston; maternal grandmother, Juanita Smith of Charleston; brother, Mark S. Skeens of Charleston; and grandson, Isaiah Davis of St. Albans. Also surviving are several aunts and uncles; and a niece, Miranda Skeens. Tony was an avid sports coach, coaching numerous boys and girls teams. He umpired softball and refereed basketball. He was a former Boy Scout leader and former member of the Charleston Referee Association. Funeral services will be 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. John Smith officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
