Thomas Harold Waugh, Jr. Thomas Harold Waugh, Jr. 70, of Charleston, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, February 26, 2013, after a long hard fought battle with multiple illnesses. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Ruth Waugh; sister, Edna Clendenin; and son-in-law, Mark Richard. Mr. Waugh graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in 1960, and served in the United States Marine Corps as a Corporal. He retired from the Charleston Fire Department as a lieutenant, with 20 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the American Legion and had served on the board of the local 317 IAFF Credit Union. He is survived by his daughters, Rebecca Richard of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, and Christina (David) Mercado of Lithia, Florida; mother of his children, Sharon Rhodes Waugh, of Charleston; siblings, Phyllis Edgell of Pelion, South Carolina, Patricia Roos of Cape Coral, Florida, Frank Waugh of Charleston, and Lee Waugh of Nitro; beloved grandchildren, Joel, Hayley and Samantha Richard, Ciara, Tyler, Kyle, Ryan and Mychael Mercado, who knew and loved him as PawPaw. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, Charleston, with Pastor Lee Swor officiating. Burial with military graveside rites by Herbert J. Thomas Memorial Detachment #947, will be in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013 at the funeral home.
