Steven Larrick Cook, 64, of Charleston passed away June 10, 2018.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Q. Cook and Patty Ann Larrick Cook of Beckley and his brother, Clarence Patrick Cook.
Steve was born in Beckley and moved to Charleston when he was 12. He graduated from Charleston High School in 1972. He served full time in the Department of the Air Force, Air National Guard, 130th Airlift Wing (AMC) from 1985 - 2002, with honorable discharge at rank of E-6 Sergeant. He received the Air Force Commendation Medal for his major contributing to Desert Storm and to the overall success of The Avionic Branch of The Air National Guard, along with other Decorations during his time of service.
He was also employed by The Charleston Weather Station (Midwest Weather, Inc.) as a meteorologist.
He enjoyed astronomy, looking out at the stars with his telescope and keeping updated on the probes going to outer space. He also enjoyed collecting stamps.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra Kay Rose Cook, son, Steven Arlo Cook, daughter, Amber D. Cook Walker, son, Charles Aaron Cook, son, Jamie A. Guthrie, Stepdaughter, Michele L. Rose, Stepdaughter, April I. Rose, Stepson, Joseph E. Amburgey and several grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 6:00 PM, Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Davis officiating.
A gathering of family and friends will be one hour prior to services, also on Saturday.
Inurnment with Military Graveside Rites provided by James E. Marshall American Legion Post #187, Winfield will be at 1:00 PM Monday, June 25, 2018 in Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar.
