Sheldon Lee Henson, 80, of Sissonville went home to be with the Lord March 7, 2011, surrounded by his entire family. He was a 1949 Graduate of Sissonville High School, and a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran of the Korean War. He was a Truck Driver for Bell Lines, Retired from Smith Transfer, and was a member of Teamsters Union Local 175. Sheldon was a member of the Charleston Mountain Mission, where he was a member of the Board of Directors, He was in charge of the Church Bus Ministry, sang in the Church Choir, and enjoyed Southern Gospel Music. He was a part of several local groups including The Eastern Gate Quartet and The Ambassadors Quartet, which he sang with for 20 years. He was a truly devoted Christian. Sheldon was a member of South Charleston Masonic Lodge #168 AF & AM, and the Charleston Scottish Rite Bodies. His hobbies included Motorcycling, RVing, Hunting, and was a Master of Peanut Brittle. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Glen and Bessie Henson and his Sister, Delores Brown. Surviving him is his Loving Wife of 59 years Norma Young Henson; Sons, Bobby Henson and his wife Tammy of Winfield; Steve Henson and his wife Beth of Sissonville; Brothers, Glendon Henson and his wife Edna of Sissonville and Bernard Henson and his wife Joyce of Charleston; Sisters, Naomi Evans of St. Albans, and Vada Mae Kepler and her husband Keith of Marquette, Michigan. Grandchildren, Matthew and Myles Henson both of Sissonville, and Breann Henson of Winfield. And his loving Dog P.B. Visitation with the family will be from 5to 8 PM Wednesday March 9, 2011 and one hour prior to services also at the Church.
