Ruth Louise "Sue" Simms, 92, of Charleston entered Heaven on February 12, 2023, after a short illness.

Sue was born on April 8, 1930, to the late Georgia Burton and A. Hugh Burton, Sr. In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Simms, sister Lois Johnson, brother A. Hugh Burton, Jr., and her beloved son, Jerry Simms.

Left to cherish Sue's memory are her dear baby brother, Charles Burton of Belton, Texas, her daughter Marie Dawson of St. Albans, grandsons Dale (Tara) Dawson of Charleston and Christopher (Georgiana) Dawson of Hamlin, as well as six great-grandchildren.

The family will be forever grateful to neighbors Ken Ferguson, Jay Lingerfelt, and Anna and Michael Plantz for the love, generosity, and friendship they showed during the last years of her life.

The family would also like to thank wonderful staff at Dunbar Center for the outstanding care they gave during her stay with them.

Per her wishes, Sue will be cremated with no services at this time.
