Ruth Bumgardner Darby 97 of Charleston passed away September 15, 2013 at Lynchburg Nursing Center, Lynchburg, TN after an extended illness. She was a graduate of Charleston High School, Class of 1932. She retired from the Personnel Department of The Diamond Department Store with 18 years of service. She has been a Christian since the age of 10, being a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Charleston. She had been active in the women's work, had served as a Sunday School Teacher for various classes most recently with The Lydia Bible Class. Preceding her in death was her husband, Ernest R. "Dick" Darby. Survivors include her son, Ernest R. "Bud" Darby, Jr., and wife Robin of Huntington; daughter Ruth Ann Mallonee of Tullahoma, Tennessee; Linda Joan Darby of Charleston; grandson, Ernest R. "L.B." Darby, III of Huntington and great granddaughters, McKenzie Nicole and Anna Alexis Darby both of Huntington. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday September 19, 2013 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Stoner officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Fisher Ridge, Kenna, WV. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to services on Thursday.
