Jackie was a legal secretary/assistant having retired from CAMC after a long career in the legal field. Over the years, she worked for several prominent Charleston attorneys and businessmen and a judge. She attended Sissonville Bible Baptist Church. Preceding her in death were her parents, Cecil and Melva Vance, brothers, Mike, Eddie and Duane Vance, and sister, Sue Good. Jackie will be sorrowfully missed by her husband, Harrison Taylor; daughter and son-in-law, Wylene and Larry Shamblin of Sissonville; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Sharon Taylor of Charleston; and daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Greg Young of Charleston; brothers, John Vance of Cross Lanes, Pat Vance of Nitro and Sam Vance of Charleston; sisters, Sharon Layne and Terri Vance, both of Charleston; cousins, Bill and Thelma Bunting of Charleston; six grandchildren, Scott Taylor, Erin Stroup, Krista Belcher, Derek Shamblin, Briana Young and Hannah Young, five great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Lily, Lucas, Caden, and Makena, other family and many friends. Jackie was a multi-talented person with many pursuits. She enjoyed photography, digitally enhancing photographs on her computer, cake decorating, reading, music, and her great love, singing. She loved things that sparkle and shine and could take any plain drab object and brighten it up. She took pleasure in learning new crafts, traveling on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and singing with her band, the Appalachian Rounders, at various nursing homes throughout the Kanawha Valley. The family wishes to thank Diane Carte and the ER/ICU nursing staff at St. Francis Hospital for the care they provided during our beloved Mom's final days. Funeral Services will be at 7:00 PM on Monday, September 24, 2012, at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. David Thaxton officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 7 PM on Monday. As per Jackie's wishes, her remains will be cremated.
