Obituary

Rodney C. Lambert of Charleston, born May 15, 1942 in Ferndale, WV went to be with the Lord on Tuesday April 5, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents Joe David Lambert and Mary Alice Wooding Lambert, and his brother Joe Frazel Lambert. He received his education from Clear Fork High School in Colecord, WV and attended Highlands University in Rio Grande, N M and WV State College now WV State University. Rodney has been attending Emmanuel Baptist Church since 1977. He was a faithful member, Father of the Year recipient, Deacon, and most recently served as President of the Deacon's Board. He will be best remembered as a dedicated coach and mentor to the youth. He served his country as a member of the United States Army after which he became loyal employee of FMC Ordinance, Greyhound Lines, and the West Virginia State Police. He was a member of The Kanawha Southern Umpires Association, The Kanawha Valley Football Officials Association, and The West Virginia Southern Board of Approved Basketball Officials. Survivors include his beloved wife of 49 years, Brenda (Banks) Lambert; children Joe David Lambert, II and Tiffany Nicole Lambert, both of Charleston, and three beautiful granddaughters Ebony Lisa Nicole of Powder Springs, GA, and Landyn and Lauren, both Charleston. He is also survived by three sisters, LaVerne Beontrice Williams and Vicki Regina Weston both of Cleveland, OH and Casandra LaVeeda Dorsey of Princeton, WV as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Friday, April 8, 2016 at Emmanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron Stoner and Rev. Dr. Matt Lyons officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 11:00am until service time on Friday at the Church. Interment to follow at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery in Dunbar WV. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1401 Washington Street W., Charleston WV 25302.
