Rocky Layne Ray, 63, of Charleston, went home to be with the Lord on June 10, 2015. Rocky was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Vietnam era. He also retired from Mountaineer Gas Co. after 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Ray, Sr.; and son, Michael Tanner. Survivors include his loving wife of 23 years, Susie Ray; mother, Lillian Ray of SC; daughter, Sheila Marie Ray of Charleston; sons, Rocky Layne Ray, II and Andre Parker, both of Charleston; sisters, Geri Williams of WA, and Ann Thornton and Cathy Halley, both of NC; brothers, Terry Ray of SC and Clarence Ray, Jr. of Ravenswood. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 6:30 PM Tuesday June 16, 2015 at Bowen Cemetery, Cross Lanes with Rev. Roy A. Welch officiating. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #61, Clendenin. Memorials in his name are suggested to Kanawha Hospice, 1606 Kanawha Blvd. E., Charleston, WV 25387.
