Obituary

Robert L. Kinder, 90, of Charleston, passed away after a short illness January 25, 2015 at CAMC Memorial Division. Robert was born March 21, 1924 in Quick, WV to John H. and Minnie L. Kinder, who preceded him in death. Robert graduated from Elkview High School, where he rode the train to school. When he turned 18 he joined the Army during WWII. He was in the 82nd Airborne Glider Division. He worked at Union Carbide, retiring in 1981. Robert attended Kanawha Two Mile Bible Church. Robert was a great Dad and will be missed by all. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Kinder; brothers, Harry, Albert, Earl and Cleon Kinder; sisters, Macil Bennitt and Mary Miller; and a granddaughter, Jenifer Kinder. Survivors include his loving sons, Raymond Kinder and wife, Shari, and Roger Kinder and wife, Marilyn; daughter, Ava Sue Richardson and husband, Arthur; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild on the way. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Pulmonary Association of Charleston for their care and to Faye and Bryan Hunter for the many meals and hunting stories told. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Friday, January 30, 2015 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with Pastor David VanHorn officiating. Burial will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes with military rites provided by American Legion Post #61, Clendenin. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
