Robert George Kushner passed away peacefully at home on December 5, 2017 at the age of 84. He went to be with his beloved wife, Audra who passed almost 4 years ago. They were so much in love that he never got over her passing.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, Ludmilla and George Kushner and sister Helen Buckholt.
Robert leaves behind his children, John, Marie, Carolyn (James), Paul (Angela) and Ronald (Cathy). Audra and Robert were so much in love that it overflowed into their love for their grandchildren. They showed that by helping to raise them. He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and many beloved in-laws and extended family.
He spent over 4 years as an airplane crew chief in the Air Force during the Korean War, traveling all over the world. After being discharged, he went to work for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Company in St. Louis as a flight line mechanic. After several years in St. Louis, Robert returned to Charleston to work six years with his father as an apprentice before opening his own business. He was a very successful business man as a third generation furniture repair man for over 55 years.
Friends may call at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home on Sunday December 10, 2017 from 3 to 5 PM, with a Rosary/Prayer Service beginning at 4:30 PM. Catholic Mass will be held at 10:30 AM Monday December 11, at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father Babu Joseph Elamturuthil officiating, followed by a Military Burial at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar.
