Obituary

Robert R. Burgess 87 of Charleston passed to his next home, to be with the Lord on March 2, 2013 after a long illness. Bob was born December 5, 1925, one of 13 siblings with four remaining brothers, He was a member of Charleston Mountain Mission, retired from Union Carbide Corporation and served in the U.S. Navy. His memberships included South Charleston Masonic Lodge #168 AF & AM for over 50 years, Scottish Rite Bodies, Beni Kedem Shrine where he was a member of the Drill Team, the motor corp., and order of the Eastern Star #133. He was an avid Hunter and Fisherman, loved the outdoors, the Mountaineers, traveling on his motorcycle with his wife Lou, and a former little league coach. Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years Lou Burgess; son, Bobby Burgess and his fiancée Vickie Cummings of Dunbar; brothers, James Burgess of South Charleston, Charlie Burgess of Charleston, Carl Burgess of Dunbar and Don Burgess of Conway, South Carolina, and his special companion Boogie. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews who are also left to mourn his passing. Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday March 5, 2013 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Al Mendez officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes. Visitation with the family will be Monday March 4, 2013 from 6 to 8 PM at the Funeral Home.
