Robert O. "Bob" Slater, Sr. 82 of Charleston passed away peacefully on Sunday March 31, 2013. He was born on May 18, 1930 in Kanawha County. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in Communications in Germany. He was a Sales Rep. for Southern Chemical Company for 27 years and retired from Royal Supply. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Earl Slater and Opal Reese; step-father, Ode Reese; brother, Billy Lawrence Slater and half-sister, Elizabeth Ann Hostetler. Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years Sherry; children, Elizabeth Ann Schleifer and husband Ronald of Chattanooga, Tennessee; Robert O. Slater, Jr., and wife Anna Jean of Cross Lanes; Michael Gregory Slater of Dunbar and Amber Renee Slater of Charleston. Eight Grandchildren and Seven Great Grandchildren; half- brothers, Gerald and David Reese; half-sister, Patricia Kincaid and several nieces and nephews who are also left to mourn his passing. Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday April 3, 2013 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Stoner officiating. Interment with Military Graveside Rites provided by American Legion Post 61 Clendenin follow in the Ray Family Cemetery at Humphreys Memorial United Methodist Church Sissonville. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday April 2, 2013 at the Funeral Home.
