Richard Areland McAboy, 73, formerly of Charleston, recently living in Charlotte, NC, went home to the glory of Heaven and the promise of eternal life with his Heavenly Father on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018.
He was born on April 6, 1944 in Huntington, WV, to Riley and Shella McAboy.
He, with his wife, was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral in Charleston. He was a devoted father who enjoyed helping others, as he never knew a stranger. He loved working on automobiles, reading and watching Westerns, listening to gospel music, and eating sweets. He had a heart of gold and loved a good laugh.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years, Patricia "Pat" McAboy.
He is survived by loving children Steven T. McAboy of Wilmington, NC, Maria Clark and husband, Roger, of Lumberton, NJ, and Karen Lindstrom and husband, Chris, of Belmont, NC, and five grandchildren: Kaylea, Ashlea, and Natalea Clark, and Mason and Madison Lindstrom.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday April 6, 2018 at Cunningham Parker Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Paula Napier officiating. The burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes. The family will receive relatives and close family friends one hour prior to services.
