Rex D. Groves, 76, of Charleston, passed away after an extended illness. He is at rest. He was a retired employee of the Sissonville Post Office; a Veteran of the US Air Force from 1956 thru 1959; loved to play Bluegrass Music with his friends and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his son, Hansford Groves; parents, Ovie D. and Ada E. Bird Groves; and sister, Delores Mallory. Surviving him is his loving wife of 56 ½ years Mazie Groves; sons, Rex D. Groves, Jr. and wife Barbara of Jacksonville, FL; David Groves of Charleston; Timothy Groves and wife Theresa of Ivy, SC and Eric Groves of Charleston; daughter, Wilma Groves of Charleston; and seven grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held 4:00 PM Wednesday May 23, 2012 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Bonnett officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time also on Wednesday.
