Raymond R. "Shorty" Harper, Sr., 91 of Charleston passed away June 22, 2014 at his home. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, an Electrician with the IBEW, lifetime member of American Legion Post #20 and VFW Post #8129 and a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Charleston. Survivors include his children, Sandy Picklesimer and husband John of Charleston; Raymond Harper, Jr., of Zion, Illinois and Jeanie Ingram of Charleston; brother, Ronald Harper and wife Nellie of Charleston; sister, Delores Layne of Charleston. 8 grandchildren 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. A Celebration of Shorty's life will be held 2:00 PM Saturday June 28, 2014 at American Legion Post 20, 415 Dickerson Street, Charleston. Military Graveside Rites and inurnment will be at The Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar at 10:00 AM Monday June 30, 2014. Funeral procession will leave Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home at 9:30 AM.
