Raymond L. Pritt, 86, after a long and full life went home to be with the Lord on October 8, 2011. He was at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 26, 1925 lived his life in Kanawha County. He was a brick mason and a decorated World War II Veteran. He loved his family and was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was an avid fisherman and gardener. He was a member of Parsons Chapel Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lessie Ann Carpenter Pritt, his brothers James, Lester and Doles Pritt and his sister Georgia Etta Pritt Lawrence and special nephew Randall Pritt. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Mildred Jean Blackshire Pritt, his brother and sister in law Garnett and Tina Pritt, his brother Nobel Pritt, his daughter and son-in-law Brenda and Bill Long, and special nieces, whom he took in and raised after their father died, and their spouses: Joan and John Purse, Debbie and Rick Young, Joy and Donald Vernati, and special nephew Dennis Pritt and honorary nephew and spouse Arthur "Skeeter" and Janet Martin. Additionally, he is survived by many other nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his granddaughters Jennifer Long Weist, husband Ron and children Joshua and Abigail; and Angela Long Cooper and husband Thomas "Trey" Cooper; and honorary grandchildren, Arthur Lee Martin and son Davidson; Troy and Christina Martin and children Tori and Christopher; Jonna Purse Todd, husband Felix and children Madison, Leanna and Alex; Erin Purse Gonzalez and children Nate, Jack and Matt; Brandon Pritt; Tyson Pritt; Amanda Young Pauley, husband Josh and daughter Addison; Ashley Young Anderson and husband Erik; Amber Pritt and children Miley and Trenton; and Travis Pritt. The family is thankful for the excellent medical care he received throughout his life from the Huntington VA hospital and from Hospice Care of Charleston. Funeral service will be Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. William K. Berry officiating. Burial will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes. Military Rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 61, Clendenin. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
