Ralph G. "Jay" Clay, Jr., 47, of Charleston went home to be with the Lord on February 5, 2010 at CAMC General Division after a long illness. He was a graduate of Charleston High School and went to I.T.T. He attended Bethany Baptist Church. He, through the years was employed by University of Charleston and Shoney's for 8 years before becoming disabled due to illness. He was a big hearted man who loved his family to the fullest and had a great passion for life, laughter, coaching football and the outdoors. He is survived by his wife, Becky; sons, Ralph "Trey" Clay, III, Matthew Clay and his wife Jessica; daughters, Mary Rutledge and her husband Dennis, and Rachel Fields and her husband Glennis. Grandchildren, Paige, Becca, Glennis, III and Dakota. Parents, Ralph and Phyllis Clay; Sisters, Cathy Lane, Patty Keiffer and Sherry Burns, all of Charleston. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday February 9th at Bethany Baptist Church, 1512 Greenbrier Street, Charleston with Pastor Rodney Smith and Marvin Welch officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes. Visitation with the family will be on Monday February 8th from 6 to 8 PM also at the Church and requests that contributions instead of flowers be made to the Ralph Clay, Jr. Memorial Fund in care of Bethany Baptist Church. Jay, you will be deeply and sadly missed by all who knew you until we see you again.
