Peggy Jean Layne Young, 78, of Charleston, has joined her beloved husband, Rev. Donald L. Young, Sr., on November 10, 2014 and they are both awaiting the inevitable return of our Lord Jesus Christ. Mrs. Young was a former bookkeeper for Kanawha Valley Bank. Peggy also worked with Don managing the Greyhound Bus Station in Charleston. She was a member of the National Honor Society and Charleston Mountain Mission Church. When she was younger, she also sang as a Tenor in the church Octet. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Viola Atkinson Layne. Survivors include her loving children, Don Young, Jr. and wife, Cecilia of South Charleston, Judy Judy of Charleston, Joy Porter and husband, Ron of Milton and Karla Reece of Charleston; grandchildren, Rachel Tincher and husband, Ray of San Antonio, TX, Andrew Judy of Houston, TX, Paige and Gabriel Porter, both of Milton, and Jordyn Reece of Charleston; and sisters, Tootsie Bailey and husband, Steve of Pensacola, FL, Carol Wilburn and husband, Doug of Little Rock, AR, and Patsy of Dayton, OH; and son-in-law, Bill Judy of Charleston. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Friday, November 14, 2014 at the chapel of Charleston Mountain Mission Church with Rev. K. Linden Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston. Visitation will be 6 - 8 PM Thursday at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home.
