Obituary

The clouds burst wide open as Paul Ray Taylor, 78, of Edens Fork, and his "High Tenor Voice" entered into the gates of heaven on March 18, 2015. He sang with the Gospel Tones Quartet for 57 years. Everyone admired his special high-pitched voice. M usic and church were his life. He was a member of Kanawha Two-Mile Gospel Tabernacle, Edens Fork Rd., were he attended all of his life. He graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School and he retired from True Temper Ax Factory. Paul was a CAMC kidney transplant recipient. He loved all of his great doctors, especially Dr. Susan Cavender who was his angel. Waiting to welcome him in heaven were his parents, Ova and Bessie Taylor; sisters, Pansy Moss and Phyllis Keller Hammack; and his two nieces, Missy Taylor and Beverly Moss Slater. Left to miss his parting are his brother, Patrick Taylor and wife, Dena, sisters, Pauline Monk and husband, Danny, Pearlene Baker and husband, John, and Penny Rutherford and husband, John. He left a host of nieces and nephews who called him "Uncle." He loved and treated them like grandchildren. He also loved his special caretakers, Lynn, Andrea, and Donna. The funeral service will be held 12 noon Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Kanawha Two-Mile Gospel Tabernacle, Edens Fork Rd., Charleston, with Rev. John Hensley officiating. Entombment will follow at Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Pocatalico. His family welcomes friends to his viewing from 4 - 8 PM Saturday and one hour prior to service time Sunday, also at the church.
