Obituary

Othella Mae McClanahan, 89, of Charleston went to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at home surrounded by her family and friends. She was born February 27, 1920 to the late Charlie and Ader Burford. She was a member of Kelly's Creek Community Church. She loved spending time outdoors and enjoying life with her family and friends. Othella was preceded in death by her husband, Creed McClanahan, son, Hank McClanahan, daughter, Eunice Gail McClanahan and grandson Freddie McClanahan. She is now rejoicing in heaven with them, while watching over us. She is survived by sons, James L. McClanahan and wife Rose of Elizabethtown, KY; Bernard L. McClanahan and wife Nina of Clendenin; Kermit L. McClanahan and companion Billie of Charleston; daughters, Marcella F. Thomas and husband Steve of New Martinsville, Priscella M. Taylor and husband Donald of Nitro, and Debra L. Jordan and husband Kenny of Charleston, brother, Leroy Burford and wife Midge of Charleston, sister, Lorena "Sis" Thomas of Charleston. 13 Grandchildren, 23 Great Grandchildren and Two Great Great Grandchildren. Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Sunday June 21, 2009 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with Pastor Cletus Price officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 9 PM Saturday at the Funeral Home. The family would like to express sincere thanks to Dr. Jack Kinder and staff for the years of excellent and personal care, and to Hospice care for the great hospitality and support during the last few days with her.
