Othel S. "Dick" McClanahan, Sr., 76 of Sissonville passed peacefully on June 17, 2010 after a short courageous battle with cancer. He was born December 23, 1933 to Oakie Samuel McClanahan and Hilda Dilima McClanahan, who preceded him in death. Othel work for Purity Bakery Company for 10 years. In 1963, he and his wife founded McClanahan Service which he owned and operated. He attended Aldersgate United Methodist Church and was a Life Member of the N.R.A. He is survived by his sweetheart of 58 years, Cynthia; Sons, Othel "Dicky" McClanahan, Jr. and his wife Kay of Sissonville; Mark McClanahan and wife Debbie of Scott Depot; Daughters, Lola Hart of Charleston; Cynthia "Peachie" Marion and husband Sherman of Sissonville; Sisters, Delma Haynes of Charleston, and Barbara Kathleen Lopatka of Fort Myers, Florida. Grandchildren, Trace Marion and wife Leslie; Christina Scragg and husband Shawn; Tyler McClanahan, and William Hart all of Sissonville. Great Grandchildren, Taylor and Ashlee Marion, Mara and Seth Scragg, and Hannah Harrison. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Sunday June 20, 2010 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Pocatalico. Visitation with the family will be from 4 to 8 PM Saturday at the Funeral Home.
