Orville Ben "Obie" Tackett 87 of Charleston entered Heaven's gates March 6, 2016. He was the son of the late Ben and Ada Layne Tackett. He was preceded in death also by wife and mother of his children Arvilla Faye Tackett; son, Orville Ben Tackett, Jr.; granddaughter Jessica Renee Dean; brothers, Charles L., Don & Glenville Tackett; sisters, Dot Spaulding and twin sisters, Vada and Velma Tackett. Survivors include his loving wife Mae Tackett; daughters, Theresa Duncan and husband Gary of Dunbar, Rita Tackett of Elkview and son, Gary Tackett of Conway, S.C.; brother, Glenn Tackett of Gaffney, S.C.; sisters, Dorothy Wolfe and Marie Moore both of Charleston and Della Elkins of South Charleston; grandchildren, Melisa and Tiffany Dean, Kimberly Fleck, Travis Reed, Benjamin Tackett and Kenny Frazier; 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; step-children, Pam Skaggs and husband Carolos of West Palm Beach, FL; son's-in-law, David Deane of St. Albans and Mike Britton of Charleston; step-grandchildren, Becky Skaggs, Carla Nuggent of FL., Robin Jackson of St. Albans, Michael Britton of Charleston, Jeremiah Britton of Alaska; and 8 step-great grandchildren. Orville was a U.S. Army Veteran, was a member of South Charleston Masonic Lodge 168 AF & AM, attended Charleston Mountain Mission and retired from Trojan Steel. Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Thursday March 10, 2016 at Charleston Mountain Mission Church with the Rev. Tom Price officiating. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday March 9, from 6 to 8 PM and one hour prior to services also at the church. Burial with Military Graveside Rites provided by American Legion Post 61 Clendenin will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Pocatalico.
