Norman Scott
Lanham
August 16, 1965 – October 30, 2023
Norman "Scott" Lanham of Charleston, WV passed away at home on October 30, 2023, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
He was preceded in death by his father, George T. Lanham; grandparents, Dallas T. Lanham (Viola Hicks) Lanham, and Clyde M. (Rebecca "Becky" Tate) Taylor.
Left to mourn his passing are his mother, Sylvia "Jean" Taylor Lanham; brother, Ronald G. (Kathy Simmons) Lanham; nephews, Stephen A. (Miranda Smith) Lanham of Charleston, David G. Lanham of Huntington; niece, Dusty Dawn (Jachovi "Covie") Hardge of Atlanta GA, along with Hannah, Ethan, Tommy Lanham; Harmony and Jachovi Jr. (Jac) Hardge, and not to forget Rebecca Jean Taylor, his "little sister". Growing up whatever chores he didn't want to do for a few cents he could con her into doing them. He also leaves behind a host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Friends to mourn his passing.
Scott earned his Eagle Scout award in BSA Troop 124 at Starcher Baptist Church. He was a 1984 graduate from Stonewall Jackson High School and a member of the VIPs. He then spent a year at Virginia Intermont College's music program before joining the United States Air Force. He earned a rank of Sergeant to become a medic and completed special airvac training before he left the service. He was a waiter/caterer at Joey's and Wellington and worked for himself doing construction, painting, and landscaping work until he became too ill to continue.
In honoring Scott's wishes he will be cremated. A visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until Noon Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, 1325 W. Washington Street, Charleston.
Weather Permitting the Family will have a short graveside service before the interment of his urn. This will be held at Mount Calvary Cemetery on the Tate Farm, Woodward Drive to Limestone- first left to farm on Limestone, anyone can join us if they wish to do so.
In Lieu of Flowers, the family requests donations be made to the St. Jude Cancer Research or Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
