Michael Carey Mahoney passed to his heavenly home on October 17, 2017 with his family by his side. He was born July 10, 1948 to the late Clarence and Evelyn Mahoney in Columbus, Ohio.
Michael attended Greenbrier Military School from 1961 to 1967. He would have been celebrating his 50th year reunion on October 20th. He was a life time member and served several years on the Board of Directors of the GMS Alumni Association.
Michael was employed by Kroger's, General Glass, and Retired after 32 years of service as General Manager of Central Glass.
Michael was instrumental with a few others in getting the ambulance service to the Sissonville area in the mid 1970's. He was president of the Sissonville Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary for several years.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary C. Mahoney; daughter, Kirstie Mahoney Carney (Charles).
Granddaughters, Schylar and Karissa; grandson, Bradley; sister, Dene Ryan (Mike); brother, Steven Grass (Lynda); nieces, Tina Sargent (Ben) and Margaret Wuletich; nephews, Carey Wiggins, other family members George, Pat, Dawn, George, Blaine, Ginny and Kassidy. Numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, sister and brother, and In Laws, Chester and Frances Starkey.
A Celebration of Life will be 2:00 PM Sunday October 22, 2017 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with Deacon David Wuletich officiating. Family and friends will gather from noon until service time on Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Greenbrier Military School Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 922 Lewisburg, WV 24901.
