Michael J. Dowell, 63, of Charleston, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2015 at Hubbard Hospice House after an extended illness. He was a graduate of Charleston Catholic High School and retired from Charleston Newspapers with 40 years of service. Preceding him in death were his parents, Clyde and Beatrice Dowell; and brother, Greg. Survivors include his loving sister, Gloria Wesley; brother, Vincent Dowell; niece, Caroline Barner; and nephew, Benjamin Dowell. Funeral service will be 5:00 PM Wednesday March 25, 2015 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with Pastor James Wesley officiating. Private burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston. Visitation with the family will be from 4 - 5 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
