Obituary
On Tuesday, March 9th, 2019, Melody Gay Shamblin Jarrett passed away at her home at the age of 63.
Melody was born on October 2nd, 1955 in Charleston, West Virginia, to Joseph and Genevieve (Campbell) Shamblin. A graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School, Melody also earned degrees in accounting and nursing. After many years of working in both fields, she retired from the West Virginia Lottery in 2017.
Melody was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Genevieve (Campbell) Shamblin; her brother, Denzil Shamblin; and husband Gary Jarrett. She is survived by her sister, Carol Rhodes (Richard) of Matthews, NC; sister Mary Shamblin of Matthews, NC; niece Sherry Rhodes of Lexington, SC; nephew Christopher Rhodes (Elizabeth) of Matthews, NC; and great-nephew, Elijah Rhodes.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday March 23, 2019 at Cunningham Parker Johnson Funeral Home, 1325 W. Washington Street, Charleston, WVA. Burial will be private.
Visitation with the family will take place immediately preceding the funeral service at 10:00 AM, also at the funeral home.
