Obituary

MARY WALKER (D'ARCO) Mary Lucille D'Arco Walker, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2024, at the age of 92. Born on March 22, 1932, in Beaver, West Virginia, Mary Lou lived a life full of love, dedication, and grace.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Luigi and Sylvia D'Arco; beloved husband, Sterling Walker; sons, William "Bill" and David Walker; grandson, Michael; brothers, Pat, Raymond "Tiny" and Joe D'Arco. Despite these profound losses, Mary Lou remained a beacon of strength and compassion for her family, church family, and friends.

Mary Lou is survived by her son, Mike Walker, and his wife Debbie; daughter-in-laws, Kimberly D'Arco and Kay Stearns; grandchildren, Brian Walker and his wife, Amanda, Matthew Walker and his wife, Taylor, Keri Pomeroy, David Walker and his wife, Samantha, and Stephanie Walker; and her great-grandchildren that brought her immense joy; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and cousins, near and far.

Mary Lou's home was a sanctuary, where family and friends gathered to share stories, laughter, and the comfort of her delicious homemade meals. She found her greatest joy in the time spent with her loved ones, creating memories that will be cherished forever.

A service to celebrate Mary Lou's life will be held at Noon Thursday, July 18, 2024 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, 1325 W. Washington St., Charleston with Pastor Ben Fowler officiating. Entombment will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Sissonville.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the local food pantry, honoring Mary Lou's lifelong commitment to helping others.

A special thank you to Betty McGraw and Rhonda Layne, her very special friends, the nursing staff at CAMC General and the special "angels" at Hubbard Hospice House. May God bless you daily.
