Mary Ann Tucker, 74, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2020. She was in her home where she wanted to be. Mary Ann was born on July 14, 1946, in Charleston, WV to Mary and Marion Hornick. She graduated from Dunbar High School. She started out of high school as a telephone operator and then went on to work at Frankenburgers and later on at Kelly's Men's Shop, and started her own monogramming business with her mother. If you had a school jacket in the 70s or 80s, she probably put your name on there. She was talented, creative, funny, and compassionate.She loved her family fiercely and was an active volunteer with the Dunbar High School Band Boosters and later with the Optimist Club of South Charleston. Her work benefited hundreds of students. She spent her days taking care of others and giving of herself fully. She helped to raise her kids, her kids' friends, her nieces, and her grandchildren.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Tucker, and brothers Richard and David Hornick. She is survived by her daughters, Robin Tucker and Susan McIntyre(Lloyd McIntyre); her two favorite grandchildren, Elizabeth and Ty McIntyre; her closest nieces Lisa Rhodes, Cindy Hornick, Cheri Hornick, and great nieces Sam Hornick and Hollee Thompson and, many cousins. Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home is in charge of cremation arrangements.
