Mary Ann Fugate, 80, passed away at Charleston Area Medical Center on Monday, August 19, 2024. She was born on May 15, 1944 to the late Clarence and Dorothy Burke Nichols.

Mary was a member of the Kanawha Two Mile Baptist Church and a dedicated in-home caretaker. She enjoyed canning, making candy, shopping with her family, spending time with loved ones, going on car rides, and listening to country music. Mary was the matriarch of our family. She was a very loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had a heart of gold and never met a stranger.

In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband Oshel Hinzman Sr., with whom she owned and operated Hinzman's Auto; second husband Ernest C. Fugate; grandson Michael Lattea; brothers Clarence Burke, and Gary Nichols; sister Dolly Guthrie; stepdaughter Patricia Shaffer; niece Sheryl Vannoy; beloved dog Maxie; and best friend Bonnie Wandling.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters Tina Edens (Jack), Robin Pauley (Dinky), Sandra Hinzman, and Brenda Lucas (Greg); sons Gary Hinzman, and Oshel Hinzman Jr. (Bub); stepdaughters Judy Page (John) and Carla Lambert; stepson Perry Fugate; sisters Sue Spangler (Lanham), Betty Berry, Nora Jones, and Bonnie Simpson; brothers James, Bobby, and Dennis Nichols; 10 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren, with two on the way; her loving cat Shadow; several step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, and her best friend, Jean Moore.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Cunningham Parker Johnson Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Naylor officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories.

Visitation will be held form 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home before the service.
