Marshall Richard "Rick" Harper, Sr., 55, of Charleston, went home to the Lord after a long illness on July 13, 2015. Marshal was a 1978 graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School and attended Mountain Community Church. He also loved to watch TV and play video games. He was preceded in death by his father, Joel Harper; brother, Timmy Harper; and grandparents, Ed and Margaret Craft and Andrew and Ocie Harper. Survivors include his loving mother, Sue Harper of Charleston; children, Dawn and Rebecca both of Florida, and April and Marshall "Rick" Harper, Jr. both of Roane County; several loving grandchildren; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Friday, July 17, 2015 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, Charleston, with Pastor Pete Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Pocatalico. Visitation will be 6 - 8 PM Thursday at the funeral home. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Hubbard Hospice House for the care given to Marshall.
