Mabel Jean Slater, 82, of Charleston passed away on January 24, 2011 after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her son's Jody and Allen Slater, also her son-in-law, Brad Allen Rhodes. She will be sadly missed by family and friends. She never knew a stranger and was loved by everyone. She worked for the Kanawha County School Board and Retired from CAMC. She is survived by her Husband of 64 years, Joseph Slater; Daughters, Susan Walker and husband Ray of Charleston; Cheryl Elliott and her husband Robert of Charleston, and Victoria Rhodes of Charleston Also surviving her are 13 Grandchildren and Many Great Grandchildren. Mabel was a member of Parson's Chapel and attended Midway Community Church on Campbell's Creek Drive. Where she loved and really got blessed, she was a good Christian and Homemaker. The family would like to extend Special Thanks to Dr. Susan Cavender, Dr. Stanton and Dr. Crisalli for their special care, Also, the ICU Unit at Memorial CAMC. The Memorial Services will be, 1:00 PM Thursday January 27, 2011 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. David Crowder and the Rev. Lee Turley officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Thursday.
