Lowell David Fisher 89, of Rocky Fork left this world for his eternal life on October 25, 2016. He was a proud Army Veteran and Purple Heart recipient. He served in the Korean War where he was wounded, captured and spent 37 months, 12 days and 2 hours as a prisoner of war.
He was a Christian and active member of Baber Agee United Methodist Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Lewis "Budge" Fisher and Artie Robinson Fisher, his 5 sisters and an infant brother. His granddaughter, Melissa Ann Fisher, met him as Heaven's gates swung open.
Surviving him is his devoted wife of 62 years, Glendel Bailey Fisher, son David Fisher and wife Barbara and his daughter Sharon Britton and husband Teddy. Lowell had 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He had many nieces and nephews whom he loved.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday October 28 at Baber Agee United Methodist Church on Rocky Fork Road, Charleston with the Rev. Paul E. Bailey officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 8 PM Thursday also at the church. Burial will follow at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar with full military honors.
