Lona Lorraine Smolder 91 of Nitro passed away July 22, 2014 at The Dream Home, Cross Lanes after a long illness. Lona worked in the Housekeeping Department at various Hospital's in the Charleston area. Preceding her in death were her parents Eldridge and Opal Jopling Talbert; husband Lawrence Smolder and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include her daughter Pamela Kay Turley and husband Jon of Nitro; grandchildren, Raymond "Chris" Newhouse of Nitro and Melinda Smith and husband Josh of Colorado Springs, Colorado; great grandson, Chris Newhouse, Jr. There will be no visitation or services.
