Lois J. Knowles, 84, of Charleston passed away June 17, 2011 at Hubbard Hospice House with her son Kevin and her dog "Duke" by her side. Lois was a Graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School and retired from C&P Telephone Company with 35 years of service. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Lois loved her dogs she had throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Perry and Minnie Shamblen; husband, James S. Knowles, Jr.; infant daughter, Diana Lynn Knowles and her sister, Maxine Little. Surviving her are children, Doreen Kinder of St. Albans; James S. Knowles, III of Ripley, Robin Kiser of Charleston, and Kevin D. Knowles of Charleston; brother, Perry D. "Pete" Shamblen and wife Betsy of Cross Lanes. Grandchildren, Shawn Toney, James S. Knowles, IV, Brandon Knowles and Amanda Walton. Great Grandchildren, Michael A. Toney, Andrew Toney and Tres A. Knowles. Great Great Granddaughter, Aydrien Toney and a Number of Nieces and Nephews are left to mourn her passing. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Monday, June 20, 2011 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. William K. Berry officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston. Visitation with the family will be Sunday from 6to 8 PM at the Funeral Home.
