Boggess
August 24, 1943 – February 4, 2026
Leonard F. Boggess, 82, of Wolf Pen Drive, Charleston, passed away on February 3, 2026. He was born on August 24, 1943, to the late Lanzo and Corda Rhodes Boggess.
Leonard was a proud United States Army veteran who served in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart for his service. Throughout his working life, he was known as a dedicated and dependable employee. He worked in local laundries and nursing homes and spent 20 years at True Temper. Following the plant's closing, Leonard continued his career at CAMC in the Emergency Department and later at CPJ Funeral Home, where he remained until his retirement.
In addition to his parents, Leonard was preceded in death by his brothers, Marlin, Holt, Oscar, and John Boggess, as well as Wilbur, Austin, and Ronald West; and his sisters, Faustina Walker and Laura Thaxton.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 57 years, Gaynell Burdette Boggess; his son, Brandon Boggess; his sister, Pearl Walker (Roy); and his devoted lap dog, Igo.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on February 10, 2026, at Cunningham Parker Johnson Funeral Home, with Pastor Al Mendez officiating. Burial will follow at Sissonville Memorial Gardens, where Military Graveside Rites will be conducted.
Visitation will be held from 11 – 1 p.m. prior to the service.
