The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. Psalms 34:18 Lawrence Q. Wines, 95 of Sissonville went to be with the Lord on November 12, 2013. He passed peacefully at his home. He loved and cherished his family and one of his greatest joys was holding his new grandchildren. He never met a stranger and loved telling stories about the past. He will be greatly missed by everyone whose life he touched. He began delivering mail on horseback in 1947 in the Sissonville area, a route that was maintained by his wife Reva and daughter Sandy until their retirement. In 1957, he began driving school buses in Sissonville and continued until his retirement from Kanawha County Schools. Rejoicing in Heaven with him is his wife of 70 years, Reva Wines; infant son and daughter, Jimmy and Kathy; daughter, Hilda Wines; son, Johnny Wines; parents Everet and Oma Wines and 5 brothers and 3 sisters. Left behind to remember Lawrence are, daughter and care taker, Sandy Wines of Sissonville; son, Bill Wines and wife Pat of Mississippi; daughters, Hermie Cobb and husband Jim of Poca; Gail Pringle and husband Phil of Ripley; Patsy Westfall and husband Arnold of Ripley and Crickett Murray and husband John of Sissonville. 12 Grandchildren, 24 Great Grandchildren, 5 Great Great Grandchildren and a host of family and friends who are also left to mourn his passing. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Friday November 15, 2013 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Al Mendez officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Pocatalico. Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 9 PM on Thursday at the Funeral Home.
