Lawrence W. "Larry" Baker, 59, of South Charleston left this earth to spend eternity with his Savior on Tuesday March 22, 2011 at Hubbard Hospice House after a long and courageous fight with Colon Cancer. Larry was the son of Carl L. and Isabelle Baker and the brother of Carl L. Jr., and James A. Baker who all preceded him in death. Larry was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Charleston and he served the Lord as an ordained Deacon and head of the Trustee Board. Growing up, Larry was a "West Side" boy and a 1970 Graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School. He worked with his wife, son, and father-in-law for 35 years at Ranson Stone and Masonry and was the Owner of Baker Stone and Marble Company of Huntington. Most recently he enjoyed working part-time at Sears when his illness allowed. Larry served his community as a Basketball and Volleyball official and as a board member of Kanawha Players, activities he enjoyed participating in with family and friends. Larry is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years Sherry and leaves behind two children, Son, Christopher and his wife Angie, and Daughter, Elizabeth and her fiancé Brent Burdette, and his beloved grandchildren Lauryn, John, Claire, Eli and Benjamin. All living in the Charleston Area.
