It is with great sadness that the family of Larry Lewis Young announces his passing from this life, to live eternally with his Lord and Savior on Saturday October 25th, 2025.
Larry was born at home on Monday, February 9, 1942, to Earl Marie and Icy A (Fisher) Young. He was a lifelong Charleston/Sissonville/Rand resident; besides the four years he spent in Oklahoma in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Earl Marie Young Jr, John Elvin Young, Guy D Young, Hobart (Hokey) Fisher Young, and Jack Dale Young, three sisters, Reba Marie Young, Helen Leah Young Slater, and Wanda Lou Young Fisher. Larry leaves behind his sole living brother, Robert Dean Young.
Left to cherish their father and his memory, are his daughter Tiki Lynn Young and son Brentford Shawn Young, three grandchildren Heather Young, Andrew Young, and Brentford Shawn Young ll. Eight great grandchildren, Kaleigh, Zane, Zi'lse, Trinity, Trenton, Kadence, Damien, and Bryson.
Larry also leaves behind one of his high school girlfriends, Mary Jo Nichols, with whom he had been in a relationship with for the last 10 years. They met once again on Facebook, after 50 years and two divorces, and rekindled their romance once again.
Larry served his country by serving 4 years in the U.S Air Force, stationed the entire time at Altus Air Force Base in Altus, Oklahoma, where he received many awards, like the PRIDE Airmen of the Month award and other distinguished awards. Larry worked as a Corrections Officer at the old Kanawha County Jail, for the Kanawha County Sheriff Department for over 10 years, where he attained the rank of Corporal. After his retirement at the age of 62, he joined the membership of the Rand Community Center, where he held the office of Treasurer, he also served as Vice President for two years, then accepted the position of a member of the Board of Directors, for four years.
The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring love, prayers, and support in heartfelt forms from far too many to name individually.
Larry will be cremated with no services at this time.
