Larry Gene Taylor, 84, of Charleston died on February 12, 2023 in Cedar Ridge Nursing Home.

Larry was born January 14, 1939 to the late Ola L. Taylor and Thelma O. Edens Taylor.  He was also preceded in death by his brother, Gary Glen Taylor; sisters, Patsy Jackson and Charlotte Taylor.

Larry graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in 1957. He served in the Army Reserves, was an avid Championship Bowler, and a mail carrier with the USPS with 42 years service. Larry worked at Lowe's with 13 years service, enjoyed Bible study, gospel music, and exercising at the YMCA in Charleston.

Left to cherish his memory are loving wife of 34 years, Joy Taylor; son, Jeff; daughter, Ramona; step-son, Scott; brothers, Roger Taylor of Charleston, Danny, Herb, Darrell, and Rick Taylor all of Sissonville; and a sister, Sue Garrett of Sissonville.
Service will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 24, 2023 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, 1325 W. Washington Street, Charleston, with Pastor David Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Sissonville Memorial Gardens, Sissonville.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday, February 23, 2023 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Society, 1248 Greenbrier St, Charleston, WV 25311.
