August 8, 1944 – March 27, 2026
Larry Lee Hutsenpiller, 81, of Dunbar WV, born on August 8, 1944, on his parents’ dairy farm in Dawson WV passed away March 27, 2026.
He was the son of the late Anthony and Ollie Hutsenpiller. In addition to his parents’, he was proceeded in death by his daughter Bridget Renee McKeny (Trippe) of Charlotte NC as well as his five sisters (Lena, Betty, Louise, Loretta and Leta) and 3 brothers (Lloyd, LeRoy and LaFaun).
Larry is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann, daughter April Dawson (Ron) of Red House WV and son Lee Hutsenpiller (Sheri) of Dunbar WV, as well as his grandchildren, Jared Nelson (Anna), Ashley Dawson, Vicky Matheny, Olivia Hutsenpiller and TT (William) McKeny; great grandchildren Riley Nelson, Emma Matheny, Manny Matheny and Jaylee Hutsenpiller and soon to be great-great granddaughter and his beloved cat Piper.
Larry married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Ann Hinkle on June 7, 1963. They resided in Dunbar WV upon Larry graduating from WV Tech and WV State College. He was employed by Union Carbide while still attending college and continued his career with them until becoming employed by DOW Chemical. This relocated them to living in Kenner Louisianna as well as Houston Texas. Upon Larry’s first retirement, in 2001, he enjoyed fishing with his buddies on Padre Island in Texas. Larry came out of retirement in 2002 returning to WV working for several companies which led him to an office back up at the old Union Carbide tech center. He then fully retired in the fall of 2022.
Larry was very active in the community when his kids were growing up. He coached Midget League football, Bitty League basketball and Little League baseball for many years. He would host the team members for dinner before games as well as provide transportation. He, along with friends, created Dunbar Athletic Boosters in 1979. This organization is still going strong today and providing funds to various organizations throughout valley. He also had a passion for WVU sports traveling to Morgantown for many football and basketball games.
While living in Texas the grandchildren would spend their summers with him and Ruth. During these summers the grandchildren would spend their time with mama and papa at Galveston beach, Moody Gardens, Six Flags as well as many weekends at the Alvin Opry enjoying music. Larry and Ruth made many great friends over the years, and they enjoyed spending time making memories with those friends traveling to various places.
The family will have a private burial at Grandview Cemetery in Dunbar, WV. The family will hold a Celebration of Life for Larry, date to be determined. The family will extend an invitation to friends and family.

The family would like to recognize the nursing staff and other clinicians at CAMC General Hospital that took care of Larry while in the hospital.
