L. Gardenia Summerfield, 89, of Charleston, went to be with the Lord at home surrounded by her family on November 10, 2014. Gardenia was a sales clerk at K-Mart retiring after 20 years of service. She was also a lifetime member of Charleston Mountain Mission Church. Preceding her in death were her husband, Delmar R. Summerfield; parents, Dewey and Gertrude Good Miller; and four brothers. Surviving are her loving children, Brenda Brown and husband Jerry of Elkview, Gigi Parsons and husband Philip of Cross Lanes, Cookie Barton and husband Mark of Scott Depot and Bill Summerfield of Charleston; grandchildren; J.R. Brown, Wendi Brown, Tasha Carney, B.J. Summerfield, Shane Fulkerson, Amber Atkins and Travis Atkins; great-grandchildren, Craig Hoover, Cheyenne Hoover, Maliyah Brown and Kenzlee Atkins; special caregivers, Dr. Henry, Lisa, Stephanie, Charlotte and Bobbie; very dear nephews; special cousin, Jean Boggess; and special neighbor and friends, Rick and Vickie Wiseman, Timmy and Laura Gardner and Sharon Newhouse. Also surviving are a host of other family and friends. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Moore officiating. Burial will follow at John Beane Cemetery, Sissonville. Visitation will be 4 - 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
