L. Gene "Red" Thompson L. Gene "Red" Thompson, 65, of Clendenin, went home to be with the Lord, June 2, 2010, at Hubbard Hospice House. He served in the US Air Force for four years, and was retired security supervisor at the Bayer Plant in Institute. Red was a big Hot Rod enthusiast, was president of Classic Steel Hot Rod Club, and a committee member of Rod Run and Doo-Wop Car Show on the Boulevard in Charleston. He was a member of Queen Shoals Baptist Church. Surviving are; his wife, Agnes Ann Thompson; children, Rusty Thompson of Pensacola, Florida, Dusty Thompson and wife, Amy of Clendenin; Kathleen Boggess and husband Bobby of Kanawha Two Mile, and Yvonne Carpenter and husband, Dallas of Tuppers Creek; grandchildren, Paul Carpenter, III and Andy Carpenter of Tuppers Creek, Crystal Haynes and Wes Lane of Sissonville, Brandon and Judy Blosser of Clendenin, Mickey and Colt Thompson of Clendenin; great-grandchildren, Keaira and Wesley Lane of Sissonville; Mike and Anna Webb of Sissonville who were loved as a brother and daughter. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 5, at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, Charleston, with Pastor Scott Means officiating. Burial will be in Jenkins Cemetery, Charleston. Visitation with the family will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
